While volunteers may engage in partisan political activities and the electoral process on their own time, to ensure that Thread avoids serious legal ramifications, we ask that, as a guideline, it is done in your individual and personal capacity and not through and with the use and support of Thread resources.

This can be done by ensuring that it is clear, through written and oral statements, that you are acting on your own personal behalf and not on behalf of Thread. To avoid legal implications, including denial or revocation of Thread’s tax exempt status and possibly the levy of excise taxes, volunteers must not use Thread resources, facilities, property, or Thread events to:

  • Endorse any candidate for any public office
  • Donate or contribute to any candidate’s campaign or solicit political contributions to a campaign
  • Participate or engage in political fundraising events
  • Publish or distribute statements for or against any candidate
  • Engage in any activity that favors or opposes any candidate
