Huge News: 100 Service Year Placements are Coming!

We have an incredible opportunity to jumpstart the careers of Thread young people this summer, and we need your help to make it happen.

Thread is partnering with the Maryland Corps / Service Year Option to offer up to 100 paid placements specifically for our young people, starting in August 2026! These positions offer a chance to earn a competitive wage, gain invaluable work experience, and give back to the community—all while receiving Thread’s signature community support.

What types of roles are available?

Over the coming weeks, Thread will start posting positions available exclusively to Thread young people, including:

• Tech: AI-Enabled IT Support, Relational Tech/App Building
• Health Care: Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Tech, Certified Nursing Assistant
• Education: Pre-K Classroom Aide
• Commercial Trades: Commercial Driver, Welder, CNC Machinist, Landscaping, and Construction/Carpentry
• Nonprofit Programming & Operations: Internal roles at Thread

How you can help right now:

1. Plant the seed: Start talking to the young people in your circle and encourage them to consider this unique and meaningful opportunity. → Check out our “catalog” of available positions (we’ll be updating this as we confirm position details).
2. Help young people apply: They can start an application to the program here, and please be sure to let your Community Manager know if a young person is applying!
3. Mobilize to threadHOURS: Starting July 8, we’ll have dedicated space and programming at threadHOURS at TouchPoint every Wednesday for young people (AND volunteers) to learn about placement options and prerequisites, get support completing applications, and ask questions. Come join us!
