But cost, housing instability, or limited access can get in the way. Take a moment to prepare yourself with the information below so you can be ready to explore free or low-cost options, community resources, and creative solutions that help them stay connected.

Ask Coaching Questions

Seek Clarity:

  1. Do you have stable housing?
  2. Do you attend BCPSS or are you enrolled in High School?
  3. Do you need internet for a specified period of time or is this an ongoing need?

Ask About Options:

  1. What can you contribute each month to internet?

Take Steps to Advocate

Reach out to your school (a trusted teacher, social worker, administrator) to see what options they have for internet.

Address the Immediate Need

  1. Sign up for two free months of Internet Essentials - $10/month after the first two months
  2. Review BCPSS’s technology distribution program
  3. Look into Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Community WiFi program to see if it fits your needs
If you've gone through all of the above steps in your relationship, you can apply to see if you qualify for additional financial assistance.
