For young people, not having a device can quietly limit opportunity and independence. But there are programs and resources that can help. Take a moment to prepare yourself with the information below so you can be ready to explore affordable options, local donation programs, and ways to bridge the digital gap.

Ask Coaching Questions

Seek Clarity:

  1. Do you attend BCPSS?
  2. Do you have access to the internet?
  3. For what purpose do you need a computer?

Ask About Options:

  1. If you attend BCPSS or are in High School, have you tried to reach out to your school to ask about options

Take Steps to Advocate

Reach out to your school (a trusted teacher, social worker, administrator) to see what options they have for computer distribution

Connect with Resources

Address the Immediate Need

Use computer services at one of the following organizations:

  1. Franciscan Center at 410-467-5340 or info@fcbmore.org
  2. Samaritan Community at 410-669-1229
  3. Check out Pratt Library (if you have a library card, you can borrow chromebooks)
  • Chromebooks will no longer be distributed or exchanged at the Central Office through Baltimore City Schools. - Families needing help  should contact their school for assistance. T
  • If your device is broken or no longer working, you should reach out to the teachers/administrators at the school for guidance while waiting for a repair. 
If you've gone through all of the above steps in your relationship, you can apply to see if you qualify for additional financial assistance.
