Ask Coaching Questions

Seek clarity about problem:

  1. Have you received a notice in the mail? From whom?
  2. What has been stated as a consequence of not paying?
  3. What deadline has been given? By whom?
  4. What’s the minimum you can pay by your deadline to avoid the consequence?
  5. Have you talked to the company about your situation?

Get to the root:

  1. What got you behind in payments?
  2. Has there been a change in your income or expenses?
  3. Are you likely to be in the same position or a different position next month?

Ask about options:

  1. Have you looked into cheaper phone plans?
  2. Who have you asked for help?
  3. What have you tried so far?
  4. Have you experienced this before? If so, how did you handle it?
  5. Do you know anyone who has experienced this before? If so, how did you handle it?
  6. Do you have any friends or family who could lend you money?
  7. How much could you spend on your phone bill this month? In future months?
