Seek Clarity:

  1. What is the trip/activity?
  2. What is the cost of the trip/activity?
  3. Does this trip/activity contribute to your academic, personal, and/or professionals goals?
  4. When is the trip?
  5. By when do you have to pay for the trip?
  6. How do you need to pay?

Ask About Options:

  1. How much do you think you could afford to put towards the trip?
  2. Who have you asked for help?
  3. What have you tried so far?
  4. Have you been in this situation before? If so, how did you handle it?
  5. Do you know anyone who has been unable to afford to go on a field trip before? If so, how did you handle it?
  6. Do you have any friends or family who could lend you money?
  7. Have you talked with your school? (guidance counselor? Dean of Students?)
