  1. When did the loss of or reduction in income occur?
  2. Do you already receive SNAP?

Get to the Root:

  1. What caused the loss of income?

Ask About Options:

  1. How much can you afford to spend on food this month?
  2. Who have you asked for help?
  3. What have you tried so far?
  4. Have you been in this situation before? If so, how did you handle it?
  5. Do you know anyone who has been in this situation before? If so, how did you handle it?
  6. Do you have any friends or family who could lend you money or support with food this month?
  7. Have you tried using a food pantry? If not, are there barriers to accessing a food pantry?

Address the Immediate Need

  1. Apply for SNAP by filling out an application online or by calling the Maryland Food Bank (410-737-8282) or Maryland Hunger Solutions (866-821-5552).
  2. Unemployment Insurance is available to all Marylanders who have been separated, at no fault of their own, from their employers. Apply here.
  3. Find a food pantry near you. 
  4. Check Food Rescue Baltimore for locations around the city to get a bag of fresh produce. 
  5. Check B'More Community Fridge Network (on Facebook or Instagram

Attempt to Prevent Future Crises

  • Reach out to MOED for support searching for new employment using this form.

Get screened for public benefits at CASH Campaign MD by completing this intake form.

If you've gone through all of the above steps in your relationship, you can apply to see if you qualify for additional financial assistance.
