Notario Fraud takes place when individuals represent themselves as qualified to offer legal advice or services concerning immigration or other matters of law. The Executive Office for Immigration's List of Currently Disciplined Practitioners through the Justice Department lists attorneys who have previously received disciplinary action and are not in good standing with their law licenses.

All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC's red cards give examples of how people can exercise these rights. However, they do not provide individualized legal advice. ILRC encourages people to check in with a trusted legal service provider for questions about their situation.
