Fall Focus: Starting Strong — School, Service Year & What Comes Next!
Fall is a season of new beginnings! As young people head back to school, college, training programs, and work — and our newest Maryland Corps / Service Year members begin their year of service — TouchPoint threadHOURS is here to help everyone start strong and stay on track.
Each Wednesday at threadHOURS, young people can get hands-on support navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with a new school or program year. Whether they need help adjusting to a new schedule, staying on top of school or Service Year expectations, connecting to resources, solving a problem before it becomes a barrier, or thinking ahead to their next academic or professional step, threadHOURS is a place to check in, get connected, and keep moving forward.
For our Maryland Corps / Service Year members, threadHOURS is also a place to stay connected throughout the year — celebrating wins, troubleshooting challenges at their host sites, accessing additional resources and opportunities, and making sure their year of service is building toward what comes next.
How you can roll as a volunteer: The beginning of a new school, work, or service year is a great time to reconnect with your young person. Ask what they’re excited about, what feels challenging, and what would help them start the year strong. Come to threadHOURS together to make a plan, tackle a next step, or connect with someone who can help. You don’t need to have all the answers — showing up, asking questions, and helping your young person navigate the transition is exactly the relational scaffolding they need.
